Experience two of Canada’s most astounding and diverse landscapes that showcase both the expansive and lush parks of the Rockies and the remote and untamed wilderness of the Yukon. Travelling from the foothills of the mountains in Alberta, prepare to be spellbound by the magnificent valleys and glaciers around Banff and Jasper. Journey westward through passages cleft deep into the rock as awe-inspiring vistas are framed by the panoramic windows of Rocky Mountaineer’s exclusive viewing cars. From Vancouver, fly north to the Yukon capital of Whitehorse, and then on to the log-constructed, waterside oasis of Southern Lakes Resort. Days are spent exploring the rugged trails, shorelines and forests around the resort, while evenings reveal the dazzling blue, green and red spectacle of the Northern Lights.

Itinerary

Arrive at Calgary’s International airport and board your transfer to the idyllic parkland
town of Banff. Check into your hotel and take the rest of the day to explore the many
unique shoppes, eateries and attractions around town. Overnight in Banff.

The full day is at leisure to discover what one of Canada’s most famous mountain resort
towns has to offer. Perhaps arrange a wildlife tour to view one of the many unique large
animals in their natural environments, or consider a guided hike along the myriad of
trails that depart either from the town, or from the nearby trailheads along the highway.
Overnight in Banff.

Depart on your full-day sightseeing transfer to Jasper including a stop at the incredible
Columbia Icefield along the famous Icefields Parkway. The huge Columbia Glacier covers
nearly 325‑km2 and dominates the surrounding landscape. An Ice Explorer ride will take
you onto the ancient Athabasca Glacier and is followed up by a walk on the Glacier
SkyWalk – a glass-floored platform extending 30m out over the Sunwapta Canyon.
Continue on to arrive in Jasper late in the afternoon. Overnight in Jasper.

Take the day to create your own adventure in Jasper! Perhaps you may wish to arrange
for a thrilling rafting trip down the Athabasca River, or climb aboard a motorcycle sidecar
for a different touring experience along the park’s scenic roads. Overnight in Jasper.

Today, board the Rocky Mountaineer train for a spectacular rail excursion from Jasper to
Kamloops. This unique daylight service allows you to view some of the most spectacular
sights in Western Canada. The route departs the Rocky Mountains through the Kicking
Horse Pass. By late afternoon, you are in the arid ranch land of interior British Columbia,
where you disembark for the night. Upon arrival in Kamloops, the evening is at your
leisure. Overnight in Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch included.

You will set out on the last leg of your spectacular rail experience today. The Rocky
Mountaineer takes you through the “cowboy country” ranch lands and along the rushing
torrents of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. You are now truly in pioneer territory and en
route you can listen to the history and legends of the West while enjoying all the comforts
of your luxury train. The last stretch takes you through lush farmlands and past historic
towns to Vancouver. Overnight in Vancouver. Breakfast and lunch included.

Today you embark on a San Francisco-style trolley for a fully-commented city tour.
Sightsee at your own pace as you hop-on and hop-off at many of Vancouver’s premier
attractions, parks, gardens, galleries and restaurants. Highlights include: Gastown, Robson
Street, English Bay, Granville Island, six stops in Stanley Park, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden,
free False Creek ferry ride and free Granville Island walking tour with the Tour Guys. A live
commentary in English will be provided throughout the tour. Overnight in Vancouver.

Today you individually transfer to Vancouver International Airport in time to check in for
your Air North flight to Whitehorse. Arriving in this northern provincial capital, you are
transferred by floatplane to Southern Lake Resort. Check into your log built cabin and
take some time to meet your hosts for the next few days and discuss what adventures
await! In the evening venture out on your first viewing of the spectacular Northern Lights
as they dance in green, blue and scarlet swirls across the sky. Dinner included. Overnight
at Southern Lakes Resort.

Whether accompanying your guide through the local trails to track moose, wild sheep and
other large inhabitants of the forest and lake lands, or venturing out on your own, trail
map in hand, the magic of the Yukon is yours to discover. Breakfast and dinner included.
Overnight at Southern Lakes Resort.

Today why not elevate your adventure with one of the many optional activities available
on site such as canoeing, hiking, fishing (season and weather permitting, some at
additional cost). These guided trips reveal the true beauty of the Yukon and how the
landscape is simultaneously both dramatically rugged and preciously fragile. Delicious
meals and captivating Northern Lights round out your day and evening. Breakfast and
dinner included. Overnight at Southern Lakes Resort.

Bidding your hosts farewell, you are transferred by coach to Whitehorse for your flight
to Vancouver. Transfer independently to your hotel and enjoy your last evening perhaps
with some Asian fusion cuisine, or with a walk along the sea wall promenade. Breakfast
included. Overnight in Vancouver.

Today your Canadian experience comes to an end as you independently transfer to
Vancouver International Airport for your flight home.
